Same preamble and same answer to the fence question as last year - almost verbatim I agree with him. The fence is a farce. I'd rather have the tough inland empire and desert kids than the prima donnas that are all PAC...

The san diego people don't want to hear it, but outside a handful of big time recruits (that all leave anyways) SD section football is inferior to Southern Section and City Section

Is the argument SD versus the Inland Empire? Just trying to gauge how far and what exact area are we talking about.

I love a team that doesn't take any $!&! from anyone!

Sounds like Rocky is going to start moving away from the pro set offense. Not my preference, but then he didn't ask me.

EdwardLewisASR Edward Lewis How 'bout this from #SDSU's new kicker Seamus McMorrow? Says the longest FG he's ever hit was a 65-yarder in practice.

It is natural for many if not most 18 year olds to choose to leave and spread their wings a bit. Big deal. Most San Diego kids will fly away at the same time kids from other areas choose to fly to San Diego. Football as it is taught and played at San Diego area high schools is and has long been regarded among the best. Chuck Long's "fence" reference was never literal or even figurative - just an awkward way for him to say that he wanted to get more of the local talent, and is sadly overworked by this board. As for rating this class, I'll give it an "R." This is Rocky's team, Rocky's recruiting philosphy and he doesn't (and shouldn't) give a damn about what we or the rating services think of the class he has brought in. How good it is will be determined over the course of the next five years and it is his job along with the jobs of his assistants that will be on the line - not ours, and certainly not the recruiting services.

The whole concept of a fence is specious. Chuck actually stole that phrase from the former Mississippi coach (name? Ed Ogeron?) who used it in Memphis area to pump up his efforts. Another one of Chuck's mis-steps.

Or is this because you grew up in either the "Southern Section or City Section"? Just like the BCS, there's lots of politics involved in deciding which schools get to compete in the State finals.

I played and coached in the SD section. I now coach in the southern section in Temecula. I can tell you that yes. The southern section has tougher football.

It was the missed 15-30 yarders (and even a few PAT's) that killed us last year. If we're 4 and 3 at the 50, we're probably going to punt anyway. But it's sad when we have to go for it on 4 and 3 at the 18 because our kicker can't hit the side of a barn. But I love the kids name and I always picture him smoking a cigarette prior to his kicks ... a la "The Replacements"

Story on Black Connor Black, who completed his Wenatchee high school football career this year, will accept an invitation to be an invited walk-on at San Diego State University next fall. He’s really excited about it,” Wenatchee coach Scott Devereaux said. “I think he’s got a lot of upside, and the coaches down there told him they only give out four of these invitations a year. www.wenatcheeworld.com/news/2012/feb/01/wenatchee-wide-receiver-to-play-for-san-diego-st/
