As it stands now, what letter grade do you give the 2012 class? What do you think the strengths and weaknesses are?

Its such an odd class. I don't even know yet what to think of it. Since theres really no impact guys in it, we really just have to wait a few years to see how it grades out.
However, just off the top of my head, I'd say a C/C+.

I day it's a B but there's a lot of potential.
Strengths - OL/DL/RB
Weaknesses - LB/WR/DB

As far as the OL goes, this might be one of the best classes I've seen.

If you don't, By impact I meant players that will be able to come in and play right away. Hence, the term "impact". Yes, there is potential, as there is in every class. For someone to state something so obvious deserves one of these ---> ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Yes you do deserve one of these...

The offers the olineman have gotten makes it seem they could be good players for us - the rest of the class looks a bit weak. The transfers helped fill some of the glaring holes.

I still dont think Mathis begins the season as a starter. Remember, Rocky's defense is fairly complicated, and for a Freshman to come in and start on D, he'd have to be a really special player. If Mathis can fill those shoes, well, I'd be fairly surprised. ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png)

I'm voting A- if you include the transfers and a B- if you don't. I mean we could have landed our starting QB and #1 WR who are immediately eligible. That alone is huge. Throw in a former 5* RB, an Escobar clone at TE, and a monster OL class and you have a very fine class. I would remove the minuses if we had been able to land a big DT or two.

DL, DB, LB. DL is our most pressing need. We need a big masive 6'5" / 6'6" 300+ monster in the middle...just saying!

Hell, I didn't even mention Alex Barrett who's probably going to see time right away at DT.

I thought about starting a thread on this but decided to just put this here so we don't end up having a dozen new ones today.
Can somebody explain to me why Rocky told Edward Lewis yesterday that we might not offer anybody else before Wednesday? The article says we will add 23-25 new scholarship players but consider this.
With Coons having decommited, I count just 18 verbals on Rivals. Add Katz, Butler and Baxter and that's just 21. Then consider that Jay Waddell has already left and that Reggie Jones looks like he won't be back either and that sure seems to me to mean we would still have 6 scholarships left to offer. I can understand leaving a couple open in the event you find a kid after signing day, but 6?
So unless I'm missing something, doncha think that despite what Rocky said, we're still after some kids for schollies rather than just walk-ons?
Edit: Because I've got that question, I'm not going to vote in the poll but right now, I'd give this class a B-.

I took he was counting the grey shirts; though for accounting purposes they count towards last year's, in practice they are part of the 23-25 new schollys. We also seem to be pressed against the 85 limit and he might not want to over recruit and have to grey shirt a bunch of people and/or just add to add.

Supposedly the NCAA is really going to start cracking down on the 85 limit and over recruiting.
