Platinum X10 (records shipped) says most people heard more than 1 song. Album topped Michael Jackson for cryin' out loud. " Nevermind was responsible for bringing alternative rock to a large mainstream audience, and critics subsequently regarded it as one of the best rock albums of all time." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NevermindMost people heard one song off of it...

Okay these are the most important/influential albums* of the modern era of rock and pop music irrespective of how much I like them. I'm guessing at the chronology but I think I've got it close. Everything is covered here (until I change my mind and edit it): Beatles: Rubber Soul Byrds: Mr. Tambourine Man Rolling Stones: Beggar’s Banquet Flying Burrito Brothers: The Gilded Palace of Sin Black Sabbath: Paranoid Joni Mitchell: Blue Led Zeppelin: III Marvin Gaye: What’s Going On Sex Pistols: Never Mind the Bollocks Nirvana: Nevermind *NOTE: The Beatles' "Please Please Me" is the first---and most---influential song ever recorded in the modern era and it predates every album on this list by at least two years.I already changed it. You left off Appetite this time....no way that doesn't go on there. Appetite saved rock n roll, if only temporarily.

This is just silly talk. And I like Boston. Smells Like Teen Spirit = "More Than a Feeling" by Boston with stripped-down production and a lot less musical, lyrical, and vocal proficiency and depth.

"less lyrical proficiency and depth" This is just silly talk. And I like Boston. What part of it is silly? I remember reading back in the day that he swiped the main part from MTAF.

I almost forgot Aerosmith "Rocks".....a tremendous rock album that influenced many a rock band like GNR. Slash pretty much claimed it in his book as what got his blood flowing on rock.

then you've got the wrong thread These are just my favorites today (actually, if I made another list right now, if might be different). They aren't what I'd necessarily put on an list of "greatest" albums.

I was a big minor threat fan and really wasn't aware of Fugazi, least of all who their front man was, when I got to high school me and a couple guys traded all our cds, and it was like christmas getting like half a dozen or so new Ian Mckay cds.
