Myron Epps was a decent player. Scored over 1,000 points in his Aztec career. I was a Myron fan - wish he didn't get in Fish's doghouse Refresh my memory, because I don't recall that. IIRC, Epps didn't play in the Duke game for some strange reason. But otherwise, I recall Epps was pushed to the bench by the transfers of Tony Bland and Brandon Smith.

The question is Johnson or maybe Pelle. If we can get Johnson we do. Pelle could either not qualify or change his mind after we tell Johnson no.

I think everyone is in agreement, take Johnson, and then let Pelle or Shepard hopefully take the last scholarship. With Johnson, we have a very scary team. Then add in either Pelle or Shepard and they are the game changer, aka, im disappointed if were not in the nat'l championship game.

Agreed with the posters above. Take Johnson now. I think he will be a very good player for us. Continue to recruit both Pelle and Shepard hard. You take both if they both want to come and just figure it out from there. You would think we are in the driver's seat for Norvel at this point, but the kid is defintely a mystery. Who knows what he decides to do or if he will even qualify.
Johnson, Spencer, and Pelle would really solidify our front court and would be on par with, perhaps even better than last year's... certainly deeper when you consider O'Brien and Polee as hybrid forwards as well.
The team and depth we would have with Johnson and Pelle in the mix would warrant a pre-season Top 15 ranking and we would battle it out with UNLV for the conference title again... both teams could make a run at the Elite 8 and beyond.
Thames, LBF, Tapley Tapley, Rahon, Shrigley, Franklin Franklin, O'Brien, Polee, Shrigley Johnson, O'Brien, Spencer, Polee, Williams Pelle, Spencer, Johnson

O'Brien will be in the starting lineup next year. I have been told he is the best player in practice right now on the team.

If we got Johnson and Pelle, our team would just be silly.
We'd have as much talent and depth as any team in the country. FINAL FOUR OR BUST

That's nice you don't agree with that Tec but I have good sources. Same source also told me that at the end of the season last year that X was the best player in practice.

Haha, nice catch on Stephens. Yea, it would be pretty ridiculous indeed. As to O'Brien being the best player in practice... while nice to hear, I am not convinced it will mean much once next season starts. Tyrone Shelley and X Thames were said to be the best player during their transfer years as well. Shelley didnt pan out due to various factors and while X is awesome, he is not the best player on this year's team. Everything I have read and heard on JJ is very promising though. Depending on what happens (or doesnt happen) with our remaining scholarships, next year's starting 5 should make for some great debating material for this board all summer and fall. As it stands now, I would guess Thames, Tapley, Polee, O'Brien, Stephens (Maybe Spencer if he picks things up quickly). Pelle, Shepard, Johnson and January would all have something to say here and would be immediate impact players for us. All that and you're still forgetting Stephens. That would be flat-out an unbelievable team.

It sounds like we should get a confirmation tomorrow about Johnson becoming an Aztec.

In Fisher I trust. That said...
...even though Birch just committed to UNLV and that increases our chances of Pelle, I would take Johnson in a heart beat. We don't have enough bigs, and we can't afford to wait for Pelle. Pelle might still want to come since Johnson can't play until late Dec anyway.

Johnson can't be very impressed with our tempo or our team after that game? I'm sure he's already made his decision ... but that terrible win couldn't have done anything but hurt our chances?
At least he can see how desperately we need a post presence?
I hope there weren't any other recruits here for that one? That had to be the worst games we've played all year? Terrible.
