Their speed rushers were the size of our nose guards, e.g. Wadsowrth was 280 or so Yeah they had a few large ones too, but over all the d was on the light side. It seemed that they could over come with speed. But I assume your point is its better to have both, and I have to agree. (I'd take either - we need to really upgrade the front, but I like what I've seen of some of the young guys)

The weights are off for Cody Galea he is 6-3 255 as of the last depth chart; and K5 (I think it was him) is correct in that Merideth (sp) is no where near 250 pounds. he is at least 275 - 280. Also I didn't feel like posting in the other thread but Ben Moa is listed as 6-4 235 right now according to his own recruiting video. So while we can't get caught up in the weights we can certainly see the recruits are getting bigger as a whole (except for the NG position). If you look at the current players on defense and compare them to the incoming class we are getting bigger recruits. good example is Kazee. he is coming in around 5-11 170 pounds. where Mahbu Keels just topped the 170 pound mark the other day after being in the weight program for two years. The O-line next year will be bigger than this years... doesn't mean they will be better but it doesn't hurt either. lost three linemen none of which weighed 300 pounds. will probably replace all three starters with with 300+ pounders.

Assuming the weights are fairly accurate we have 1 unproven tackle at 280 in Kenneth Galea'i (SP?). Meredith is listed at 250lbs. The next heaviest guy is a 255lb JC transfer that didn't see the field this year and by most accounts is just "a guy." I hope this is wrong however. I hope the next Strenght coach is a good one and gets here pronto. Spin it anyway you want, its an area of concern at the very least. They're listed weights, they aren't accurate. I've stood next to Meredith. I'll eat my hat if he only weighs 250. Everybody loved our 2010 DL. Here's what their listed height/weights were on Signing Day... Ernie Lawson - 6-4 245 Jerome Long - 6-5 250 BJ Williams - 6-3 215 My point is, we should probably wait to see how they look in fall before we start judging them to be "too small." Great point!

Athletic ability is more important than size, of course the big schools get big athletic players. Great example is LSU and Alabama. Both teams had defensive lines head and shoulders above anyone else in the nation.
We need to improve in the trenches if we are going to compete in the Big East.

Now that Katz appears to be on board, what's the probability, if any, we lose a QB or Morin decides to go elsewhere after being hustled into graduating early? I don't think they promised him anything other than an honest shot to compete. I haven't heard anything to suggest that him not coming here is likely other than ASR just throwing it out there. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't stick to his commitment.

Morin is still coming and should be enrolled in classes next week. If Morin can play this could a perfect situation with him practicing in Spring and redshirting next year and being a year stronger and smarter with a real understanding of the system and a real shot to start as a RS freshman. Would be brilliant really.

If Dontae Walker is in, does that put Baxter in the slot? I think he could be excellent player getting the ball in space as they say.
Am I way off base here??

No, not off base. I'd label Baxter an athlete not narrow him down to RB/HB, he has great hands that go with his speed (can play WR) and can effectively play QB in the Wildcat formation. He has a decent arm also.
Oldie Out

Morin should RS next season and get ready to start as a RSFR in 2013 He should get ready to compete. If he beats out Dingwell and Jeffries then that will speak volumes about his ability.
