I'm gonna feel a whole lot better about next year IF Rocky can land one or more JC DLs.

This selection confuses me. I thought we were stocked with good/excellent tight ends. Evidently Rocky was not comfortable with what we have.

He is fast enough to play wr with size. He did run 11.2 100.

We seem to have morphed into a power blocking team this year and with a new QB next year, perhaps even more so. Note that late in the year they brought in an extra lineman to run power left or right. It was Mike Matamua, who was not starting. He is done, so Rocky seems to like TEs a lot.

Or could it be that Rocky is bringing in the best available athletes? We desperately needed pass catchers form our TE's this year, and other than Escobar, we received little from that position. We obviously weren't as deep (or talented) as we thought? This isn't about bringing in the best possible athlete ... it's about bringing in the best possible TE who can catch balls and make plays.

Boesch may fit into the mold of TE's that Stanford used in their pass offense that didn't have many healthy WRs.

Seeing as Ludwig motions and covers the tight end half the running plays and then runs to the strong side, hope he can combo block

Hard to catch the ball when the OC calls a formation where the TE is an ineligible receiver

Does the name Jimmy Graham ring a bell? How about this one, Kellen Winslow Jr. The list do go on... No doubt, what is he talking about? Hopefully he was joking around if not he is clueless. Oh, the irony......

I'm curious if we only offered him after we lost out on the other Juco TE to Boise. Or if we had offers out to both. If so, which did we prefers, because I can't see us bringing in 2 juco TEs? Also, will we keep him at TE, or convert to OL? If anyone has any insight it would be appreciated. I cannot see bringing in a 230lb JC TE and moving him to OL. rocky must just really like the kid.

That's why I hope he convinces his SMC teammate- Alexandru Ceachir- to come to the Mesa. He's a 6'4, 300lbs from the eastern bloc (Maldova). Chow recruited him to Utah, but Chow is gone. SDSU over Hawai'i and Utah, i hope. He would make a nice addition to the Aztec OL.

Hard to catch the ball when the OC calls a formation where the TE is an ineligible receiver That's true, but I would hope the play calling would change to match the upgrade in talent? Also, without changing a single play ... we probably had 18-20 passes dropped by TE's last year (although part of that was Lindleys crappy passing) and numerous plays where the TE simply didn't have the speed, strength or the ability to get open down field. And assuming we have a duel threat QB next year .. we need players who can get down field to catch balls but also block off of the line of scrimmage.

DE in HS? Maybe a DE for us? We can sure use some help at that position.

I don't really see him as a defensive end for us, possibly an outside linebacker to cover opposing tight ends, yet it looks like his strengths are his ability to catch and run. He seems to look like a hybrid tight end / wide receiver.

I agree. I see Quigley being moved to OL, the guy just doesnt have the ability to adjust to passes in the open field. As much as I see our QB throwing with more touch next year(a more catchable pass), we do need guys who we know can catch the ball.
