We actually played an undefeated Duke team about 10 years ago, on the road. Played them pretty tough too, turnovers and 3FGs were the difference. It was one of Fisher's first good SDSU teams, with Holcomb, Bland, Mackell and Faux. Duke started Dunleavy, Boozer, Duhon, and Jason Williams. Here is the recap: goaztecs.cstv.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/122901aab.htmlYeah we should do it again! I think Fisher is adamant about only agreeing to these games if they will also play at our house. I would love to see a two away for one home game, at the least. It is great for recruiting and team exposure to book these game at least once per year.

2 months ago people were complaining that the schedule was way too tough. Now, we put a couple of easy ones on to make up for it and now people are complaining again. Love it.

We were wondering who would fill that gap in December and early January UCR, Elon, Redlands, SD Christian and Chicago State Cupcakes... I would prefer to go a little bit more competitive than that. The schedule is fine... especially since we don't have a complete roster yet and it is a rebuilding year. I'd rather have easy home wins to get the team used to playing with each other and gain some experience.

I believe Redlands and SD Christian won't count against RPI.

That SDSU vs Duke game was great.... Still remember watching that on TV... One of my favorite alltime Aztecs is Al Faux...

What game will we hang the banners for the MWC Championship and Sweet 16?

Check the OOC schedule for any top-tier ACC or Big East team, and you will see a schedule similar to ours, although with more cupcakes and less top teams.

Wasn't Al Faux a walkon that wouldn't accept a schoolie when it was offered?

Chicago State is coached by Aztec PG Tracy Dildy (Smokey Gaines era). Welcome back to the Mesa. www.gocsucougars.com/index.aspx?path=mbballWhen I read he got the job last year, I hoped that Fish would have the Cougars out for a game.

Al Faux was a walk on..... not sure about not accepting a scholarship. He was deadly from outside and might be best long ball shooter we have had at SDSU. I remember him killing OKlahoma State when they came to Cox Arena (IIRC).

There's a stretch from December 8th to the 18th without a game. That is going to suck.

Faux went to Crenshaw with Akbar. Then on to JC where he turned down scholarships to be a preferred walk on at SDSU.
So smooth...Mr. clutch always had a good feeling with him in the game.

Obviously. But it takes two to tango. We should try to book an ACC team....even if we have to go on the road. It would be a great tournament preview and RPI booster. Imagine San Diego State @ Duke...or @ UNC...that would be great! Imagine? We've played @ Duke before. Randy Holcomb era. I was there. Playing in the East gives us nothing but pub and a great learning experience for the kids. UNC has a nice arena. If we played in the East, I'd schedule a 2 or 3 game trip.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about the schedule. If you take those 7 games from Baylor to Cal and mixed them in with these other 'cupcake games' it wouldn't look so bad. Every one of those 7 games could be a loss - those teams are good enough to beat SDSU. At least 4 of those 7 are at home. Of the 21 home games, 4 of them are non-D1 games (2 exhibition) so there is a good balance for the remaining games (home and away).

What game will we hang the banners for the MWC Championship and Sweet 16? I do believe we are hanging 3 banners. We also will have one for co-champions of the MWC regular season. Point is well taken though....what game will banners be hung?

believe there is no game from 12/7 to 12/19 so the players can study for finals. Would have been nice to have a double header with the womens team
