Eastlake vs. Bonita Vista is pretty great. Every other year it is played at Southwestern College This. It was really good 15 years ago when Eastlake just opened. Every sport no matter what resulted in big crowds and fights. It wasn't gang related but more like people thinking Eastlake kids were rich when in reality most of the kids there at that time came from other parts of Chula Vista and San Diego. Also, lots of the kids from 95-2002 went to the same elementary and middle school so there was a lot of familiarty and good natured ribbing...which sometimes got heated and lead to petty fights. In football they play for "The Boot" every year.

i would have to say the cathedral-st augustine rivalry is better than any other in the county. doesnt the attendance average around 10,000 whenever they play?....the ghetto bowl(Lincoln Vs Morse),Helix vs O-side

Southwest and Mar Vista. I know, I know, not really big schools that have produced many top flight athletes. But while I was at Southwest the Battle of the Bell was a pretty big game. Southwest football and basketball teams really got pumped for the game.

Gates was playing. shame he didnt pass the entry exam. he wouldlv been a great back at state Patrick Gates was an awesome running back for Marian Catholic (now the relocated and renamed Mater Dei HS). Like you said, a huge what-could've-been for SDSU had he passed his entrance exams. He was "the name" all over in the Prep Pigskin Report the same way Reggie Bush would be a few years later

I personally played in the Scripps Ranch vs Mira Mesa Rivalry four times, and watched my brother play in it four times as well. I can tell you, this rivalry was as intense as they get. For me personally, it meant so much because I played Pop Warner in Mira Mesa growing up. This was prior to Scripps having a Pop Warner program. So, beating my former teammates meant everything to me.
I do not think there was ever any real hatred on either side though. It is just a solid, healthy, athletic rivalry.
