before they even have them. I saw this ad on craiglist:
"I will have two general admission tickets for the sold out SDSU BYU game that will be available Fri the 25th. The game is the next day. 180 a piece. General admission tickets are selling upwards of 225 on stubhub."
This is another reason why there should be more regulation on how the student tickets should be given out

As long as they are not sold to a BYU fan I have no problem with our students paying part of their tuition with some smart business sense. It does suck that not all students want to actually go to the game though.

As long as they sell then to SDSU fans I don't have a problem with it. Let the kids earn a few bucks for themselves so they can give their parents' wallets a break.

Well, I think there is a limit on how many seats are given away for free to students, as well as how many student tickets each student may have. I don't buy tickets from scalpers, but some people do.
And, I suppose we can take the positive spin on this by welcoming these students into the free enterprise system.

I thought student tickets you had to show a student ID? Only to pick them up, not to enter the arena.

I thought student tickets you had to show a student ID? Only to pick them up, not to enter the arena. That could be fixed with ease. I just see not reason to worry about it. As long as the ticket is sold and there is a butt in the seat, who cares? Waiting for the day when Football has this same problem.

Waiting for the day when Football has this same problem. Agreed. I wasn't trying to suggest that there is a problem with the current system, just answering bekays' question. I wish there had been this kind of demand for tickets when I was a student. The only thing I might have a problem with is if they're selling these to Zoobs -- but that's just the fan in me.

I expect that there will be a bunch of scalpers around SDSU and Viejas that day... Don't know if/how SDSU is going to deal with that.

I didn't catch that on the first read through. I'm OK with it. If the kid is willing to stand in line for a few days then he's earned the right to make $350 bucks. If the kid is really smart he'll wait in line with a friend so that they can each go to the game and bring home some cash.

As stated multiple times before in this thread, I have no problem with it whatsoever, as long as the ticket goes to an SDSU fan.
That student is going to have to wait in line for at least 36 hours. If he/she is willing to do that to help offset the cost of college, then more power to 'em.

Remember that what people are asking isn't always what they are getting.
Also, before we extol the enterprising zeal of SDSU students, remember that most of these people are going to be camping out for 36+ hours. After food and any extra supplies are factored in, they'll be lucky to make more money than if they were to just work at McDonald's for 5 days then quit.
Also, anyone believing that craigslist ad is stupid. While it may not be a scam, it sure sounds like one.
"Hi. Do you want tickets to that big game? I don't necessarily 'have' the tickets per say, but I will have them the day before the game. Let's make arrangements now though for the future though. This is the internet and I'm a college student, what could possibly go wrong?"

Also forgot one more thing.
Forecast for next week....RAIN SHOWERS and overnight lows in the 40's
To the student attending the game, it will be another challenge to overcome in order to attend the game. To the scalpers, it may make it just not worth their time and misery to make a few bucks.

Quote: I just see not (sic) reason to worry about it. As long as the ticket is sold and there is a butt in the seat, who cares?
Really? If the student ticket is sold, then the atmosphere in the arena is diluted. Students are the 2nd best thing about the game environment. I strongly believe that the ticket policy needs to be changed to require that a photo student ID be needed to use the ticket.
Other schools do this. Another alternative, but not my preference, is to require that a Student Ticket be "upgraded" for a substantial fee. This allows the students to have access to the games cheaply (or free), but also allows the students to sell their tickets to the general public. The general public buyer would then have to go to a special window with that ticket and pay an additional fee in order to enter the arena with a student ticket. The athletic program gets the "upgrade" money.
Another idea is to do something like what the Chargers did for Raiders games. Those games were only available with the purchase of 3-4 additional games. This minimizes the liklihood of a large contingent of opposition fans purchasing tickets.
Thoughts?

83,
Easily stopped or modified to be a further boost to the arena experience, minimize opponent fans, increase revenue.
