That was a great basketball game.
SDSU just needs to go out and win tonight. Ohio State will probably still be ranked ahead of us though.

Even if we win tonight, I'd venture to guess that OSU will remain slightly higher than us....

The SDSU connection: we're playing a team that already beat the team (Wisc) that just beat OSU

No way. They'll keep the same cast of characters above us. Tx, Ks, Duke, Pitt, Ohio State and a couple of eastern teams they'll constantly flip flop. The pollsters are lame.
We'll need to do our thing in the NCAA to prove their popularity contest is a sham.

Both of our connections carry about the same kind of weight

Thankfully this sport has a playoff so you really don't need to worry about it as long as your in the top 68 . No one should care about who is ranked what in February, the polls are just there to help generate excitement around games. That way we can see teams knock off "The #1 team in the country" when said #1 team hasn't won any sort of championship yet, it's really not that big of a deal.

The good thing now w/ Ohio State losing is that the next loss by them and Duke...assuming we keep winning, should enable enough voters to put us ahead of them after they each get one more loss

The reason we worry about it is that seeding for the Big Dance are predicated, at least partly, by the perception of the pollsters. The fact that THE Ohio State University gets prejudiced positive love from the pollsters that the Aztecs don't get has major significance in the seedings.

Seedings are nice, but at the end of the day there are no excuses, you're going to have to beat some great teams to go all the way. Both OSU and SDSU should be seeded pretty well.

A win today is huge and would give us the best record in the nation.

I have been listening to espn radio today as i am driving and am getting so pissed about how they avoid mentioning the Aztecs. All i hear is syracuse...syracuse...syracuse....they lost 6 of 8 and should be close to being a bubble team. A win tonight is huge. If we win out...i think we deserve a #1 seed.

Big game for our guys tonight. If they can win, they can retain the top record in the nation. This is a big one for fighting for #1 seed.
GO AZTECS!
