I saw the other day that an initiative has qualified in CA to end the death penalty. I'm curious as to whether or not it will pass.
Edit: Article here ==> http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47152804#.T5dIedmcx8E
And if you want to take a position on the death penalty generally, feel free.

I so hope so, 'cause I have about thirty snails I need to kill in my garden. I'd hate to get thirty years from Peta for killing 'em.

To hell with PETA. Just eat what you kill.

How selfish soever man may be supposed, there are evidently some principles in his nature which interest him in the fortune of others, and render their happiness necessary to him, though he derives nothing from it except the pleasure of seeing it. Adam Smith |

I admit that I did not read the article. The death penalty, whether you support it or not, it is too expensive to administer. In addition, there are too many instances of new DNA evidence showing that the convicted convict was not guilty of that particular crime. End of story.
I hate the intiative process, but in this instance I'm happy it qualified for the ballot so I can vote "yes."

Plus studies are inconclusive as to whether it actually serves as a deterrent.
I was once a big capital punishment supporter. Not anymore, however, and I'll be voting to abolish it in California.

I'll vote no. Sometimes, punishment must fit the crime.

I just wish that when there is no doubt about guilt, that the justice was also swift. What we have for a system just costs too much.

24 hours is swift enough for me. Since it is not swift, and too damned expensive, I'll vote yes.

I heard on the channel 11 Lalaland news that the libels want to make murder legal and one, or their only libel expert then went on and predicted that if they did this, the end of libelism would occur within the hour.
