Pod hates Lindley. The fact is this : When you can throw a ball as far as Lindley can, and make all of the NFL throws, you will find a spot on a roster.
I dont hate Lindley, Ryan. Its just that for so long a few of you kept putting me in the position to defend myself in regards to my stand on his ability, to the point that I had to really dig in and perhaps go over the top with it. I'm sure you understand how that can happen. My opinions of him were validated by all that the analysts put in print.
I'm a realist, Ryan. I have only ever been honest with my opinions, there was a time when that was an appreciated aspect of any Individual. I respect your opinion, and you respect mine, even if they differ. I truly hope he has a long and fruitful NFL career.
I am sure you are surprised quite often in your life.
well, a college QB that never had a completion percentage above 57%, and had a completion Percentage of 53% as a senior... I dont know. He basically got drafted for potential, which means because he has a strong arm. Theres a reason that many thought the Raiders were going to draft him, and if Al Davis were still among the living, god bless his soul, I'm sure the Raiders would have drafted him in the 1st round.
I wish Lindley the best.
Uh, it's the NFL draft bruh, who isn't drafted off potential?

You aren't an nfl scout, nor a college scout or even in a position to properly evaluate an athlete in his respective sport.
It make me laugh whenever people on here or any message board try to do their own "scouting" on a player or a team. LOL if only it was that easy.Everybody thinks that they can do better than the GM. Or that they know the type of player that person is.
So just remember, whatever your "evaluation" of a player or a team is....it's very far from accurate and isn't the same thing GM's and scouts are seeing. Like I said, it's not that easy of a job.
So don't let your own ignorant scouting blind you too much and get the best of you.
you are a fan, not a coach, not an AD, not a scout and definitely in no position to label a player as something he is or isn't. Just sit in the seats and enjoy the game.

very true. I'm not meaning to ruffle anyone's feathers by stating such truths. However, I'm sure you'll agree that some players are drafted on their potential(possible, as opposed to actual skill), while others will be drafted because their skills demand it, and those are the ones that immediately fill a spot, and are starters right off the bat. there is a difference, yes, perhaps I didnt specify it in my previous post, but there is. when a QB is drafted in the sixth round, and is stated as "a gamble" being drafted at that spot, it is because of the flaws in his game. His development is an unknown, meaning he has a LOT to refine in his skill. And, as we all know, there are exceptions. We all know that. We're not fools.
I mean, c'mon, man. I'm not trying to piss anyone off, but for some reason I always get backhanded retorts to my statements when if one would just take the time to read into what I said, instead of flying off at the handle and thinking they're going to teach me something about I sport I grew up around and played throughout most of my youth, they'd know that it isnt worth the grain of thought they put into it.
we're both Aztec fans, yes? I love SDSU sports. I watch as many of their games as I can, I've been doing so since the early nineties. I've seen good players come and go. We both know what talent is, we both know what potential is, we both know the difference between immediate impact and potential impact.
finally, Let us rejoice in these times that allow us to be a part of our beloved SDSU athletic programs while they are on the rise.

I am no scout, you're right. I am a fan, you're right again. One thing I am not is blind. I like to observe, many people I know like to as well. I have come to find throughout my life that I have the uncanny ability to tell what a good athlete is, and what he does to maximize his talents. I have also come to find that people like to play devils advocate, and deny others of their natural birth rights. I don't consider my observations of players as "scouting". I consider it me enjoying a sport and shooting the $#!+ with my fellow conspirators in an attempt to piss off my fellow aztec fans so that we can partake in the exchange that we are having at this moment
dude, why deny a person of something that makes their life fun. I like to watch and make observations, and sometimes my observations are right, and sometimes their wrong, just like anybody who does the same. Does it really take a scout to notice flaws in ones approach? I was never a quarter back, but I've seen many play up close and personal, and can tell what good foot work is, what a quick release is, what a good athlete is vs one that is not. I bet you can too. Its part of enjoying the game. what? do you want me to sit their with a glazed look over my eyes and just say "shucks" when when a player doesnt do well? No, thats not who I am, I'm going to try and figure out why. Its in my nature. its in our nature as fans.
I am not a scout, you're right. I am a fan, you're right again.

Ok, THAT'S IT !!!!!!!
Everybody list their credentials right now!!! We need to screen posters better so that unqualified ppl don't post here. Especially if they had differing opinions... If you don't agree with me then don't post here.
The tribe has spoken.
if you read this, you agree that I'm cooler than you.
Very odd pick. The Cardinals go balls out to get Manning but fail so you assume they want a QB. However, word was they soured on Kevin Kolb after only one year because he isn't mobile enough so the last guy you think they would draft would be Lindley. Typical Cardinals.
Here's hoping Ryan doesn't stay with Arizona much longer than Kawhi stayed with Milwaukee or whatever similar mismanaged organization he was drafted by.
Did they hate Kolb because he was immobile or because he sucked? Seems to me their last guy (Warner) was pretty immobile but worked out well. Ryan has every chance to be better than Skelton and he ended up playing a lot.
I wouldn't go as far as saying they hate Kolb. But it's safe to say his first year as a starter didn't live up to the hype [shocker]. The Cards missed out on the Manning sweepstakes and subsequently paid Kolb a $7MM roster bonus. If they really did "hate" him (after 1 year), Arizona would have cut him thus saving $7MM. But I do agree that Lindley does have a shot to compete for the backup spot which could translate to playing time after Patrick Willis snaps Kolb in half.

Kawhi was drafted by Indiana.
Lindley to the Cardinals I think will work out great for Ryan. What do you mean by the Cardinals are mismanaged? He will definately have a bigger, and better OL in front to protect than he had with the Aztecs.

Round 6/185 -- Ryan Lindley, QB, 6-3, 232, San Diego State
Whisenhunt -- He said the Cardinals had watched Lindley a lot the last two seasons as the club looked at San Diego State receivers. The Cardinals drafted one of those receivers, DeMarco Sampson, a year ago.
"He (Lindley) is big guy, he's athletic, he can throw the ball from a number of different positions. He's had success in an offense that's been productive. It's a young guy at a position that you have an opportunity to work with and you like that. Let's face it, quarterbacks in this league, you have to have as many of those guys as you can get to try to get a couple to play well for you because you need them."

This is somewhat disconcerting. Didn't he have three years with Sipe?
"I've been blessed with a pretty good arm," Lindley said. "...At the same time, I think something that has hurt me in the past is accuracy and a lot of that for me is my footwork, which I have been working on a ton."
