Oh my. In an email to Oklahoma President and AD in influencing a possible Big 12 invite, our Jenny Bramer, Assoc Athl. Director, wrote: "Is there anything that [SDSU A.D.] Jim [Sterk] or I can be doing to share the message about all San Diego State's advantages? Or for that matter sharing all the disadvantages of being in the conference with BYU!" The disadvantages of having BYU in the conference are:

no they do deserve it...but seems like Big East is dying for BYU to join...i jsut wouldnt want to piss BYU off enough where they say we willl come...granted you keep SDSU out

There is only 1 line about BYU, but of course that's enough to make them all think that the entire thing is all about them. It is a pretty good dig, however. But perhaps more interesting is the very first email letter to the OU pres from a current OU professor. This professor got his bachelor's and graduate degrees from BYU, was a BYU football season ticket holder for over a decade he says, and he had some pretty damning things to say about BYU and why the conference SHOULD NOT add YBU, but instead should look elsewhere. AND THIS IS COMING FROM ONE OF THEIR OWN!!! |

I broke down and read her e mail. It was a throw away one liner, no big deal. I got the impression she knows the recipient pretty well and she was keeping it light. The Borg are just irritated because the Big 12 decision making booth isn't staffed by BYU employee's, alums and 25 year old linemen. The Fred Noonan School of Navigation.  |

We're better than BYU. The only reason we lost the last game against them was because of BYU ref's in the press box. We owe them.

The fun in tweaking BYU aside...
This is the worst possible time to look like we have Amateur Hour going on at the athletic department and university controls. now is the time for complete professionalism and competence in the AD so as to not scare away a potential nod from Big 12 or the Big East, etc.
That email looks like something that was written by one us on this fan board, not by a professional who can see the whole chess board.

I think the best email was from Sterk that said the new Fox channel in SD was pushing for the bigXII to add SDSU or something close to that. Considering that all this conf. alignment is about football and TV markets and the big XII has a contract with Fox that is promising... maybe. Who knows.
