You mean all those anti-science, no GMO goof balls are aren't conservatives? It just cannot be! My head hurt! |

So, I take it you are against labeling? I shop at the local farmers market for organics if I don't want Round-up in my food. What's wrong with knowing what you are getting? I thought you far right guys were into "freedom", which includes choice I would imagine. |

I don’t care about labeling. It’s a bullsh!t solution to a non-existent problem. The scientists, both evil corporate types and those in the government responsible for our safety in the FDA and the EPA agree that the GMO’s currently in use are safe. The science leads them to this conclusion. If you want to waste your money buying organic, feel free. Buy only those products labeled as such but don’t force me to pay the freight , driving my food up by forcing suppliers tell you what doesn’t meet your silly, emotional, non-scientific standards. As to organic farming, it’s just another anachronistic, non-scalable “technology” (it’s really rejection of technology, science and accumulated knowledge) of the sort that the Luddite left loves. There was once a time when all farming was organic. The non-“sustainability” of organic farming is what LED TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF PESTICIDES AND HERBISIDES! Do you not understand this? Organic farming =famine. This is not a theory, it’s a rule. Organic farming as it exists today is entirely….entirely dependent upon “non-organic” farmers keeping the pest population and disease instances to a manageable level.
GMO’s are simply the next evolution towards more efficient food production that’s less harmful to the environment. Genetically modified crops don’t require the application of pesticides in the fields, or at least far less of it. Is this a GOOD thing or a BAD thing? They are also drought tolerant, requiring less water. Again, GOOD or BAD? They can also facilitate farming in poor soil allowing subsistence farmers in the non-developed areas of the Earth to feed themselves. GOOD or BAD? Meanwhile, there is no scientific evidence that they are harmful. None. Zip. Zero. To people or the environment.
