Does anyone have any experience with Bitcoin? Some. Great to buy $#!+, horrible to invest in. If you think you're good at technical trading, riding short term trends can make you some money but getting your money into and out of exchanges is a whole 'nother can of worms. I'm assuming you saw Mt Gox go belly up the other day. The US govt has a dangerous % of the entire market after they seized the Silk Road a few months back - enough that they could cause a crash. The theory behind it is great though, take control of a currency out of the hands of the government. Pure market. If you do dabble in them at all, be careful - a lot of places that use bitcoin require the use of Tor, but using the service for anything personal is opening up your info to whomever is running exit nodes (both government honeypots and bad actors)... dangerous.

I read the long story on BitCoin in the Sunday Union Tribune. I don't think I will get in now, but I can see just how this works and how it was intended to work a little clearer now. Really not a bad idea, but the mechanics and the mechanism for the mechanics are still a big problem.

I have TONS of bitcoin experience.
So far, no one seems to know what they are talking about.
silkroad coins were already auctioned off privately, didn't and will not hit the exchanges.
As of today, bitcoin took a small dip, watch closely and buy in around 430. You will see it rise again in the coming months. I've been buying and selling bitcoins since 2012.
Places to spend bitcoin - newegg, overstock, tigerdirect, dell, etc etc...
mass adoption in the works. buy in now, or miss the train. my 2 cents.

Yeah, I'd do A LOT of research before dumping your money into this....if you took the dude's advice above on August 19th, you'd already be down at least 26%. The main issue here will be how the Fed's deal with bitcoin...they don't like untraceable money...lots of other issues too...but if you have some extra coin laying around and aren't afraid of high risk/return, then it's probably for you. CrAsH!!!Investment?
