It's worth noting Latos is going to be pitching his home games in a total hitters park.
yeah, I wonder what is going to happen when the fences are eventually brought in here at petco. it may get very bad very quickly, lol.
They're probably moving them in about 10-15 feet in right field and center. Some people are acting like the sky is falling. It'll still be a pitcher's park, just not so extreme in regards to left handed hitters. It's a good thing. Petco is ridiculous and the "our players suck" argument only goes so far into the lack of production.

After a great 7 inning ZERO ER outing Latos reverts back to bad with a 6.1 innings 5 ER outing.
5 games 28.2 innings 5.97 ERAPeavy continues to shine:
5 games 37.2 innings (that's about 7 and a half innings per game) 1.67 ERA.
His last game was a 9 inning, 4 hit, 1 ER, loss versus Boston. It is really sad to see Heath Bell fail so badly. His last two outings:
0.2 innings 2 ER (blown save) 1.0 innings 2 ER (non-save situation - have they lost faith?)
6.2 innings 10 Runs.
I posted about his strikeout rate falling over the past two years. I thought it was time to let him go. But this epic fail was not forseen by me. I guess just being a little worse is sometimes enough to make you a lot worse in results.

Yes.
Padres pitchers over the life of Petco Park have ERAs over a run lower than on the road. That is a bigger difference than the Padres hitters home and road. Petco's pitcher friendly reputation is definanly more than a fluke based upon Padres hitters.

Heath Bell entered a 2-0 game in the 9th inning in SF. Double, Single, Single. He was pulled and his successor managed to only allow the runner from 3rd to score. Via a baseball accounting fluke his replacement got the blown save because he couldn't stop a runner at 3B with no outs from scoring. It should have been Bell's 4th blown save.

Update on some ex-Padres.
Peavy is having a great year but just had his worst outing 5.1 Innings 6 ER. That raised his ERA from 1.89 to 2.65Heath Bell had two good outings to get his ERA below 10.0 but then gave up 2 runs getting no outs and then blew a save (4th) giving up 1 run in an innings. Current ERA: 11.42.Aaron Harang has had a couple of decent outings in a row to lower ERA from 5.72 to 4.46. Matt Latos had two good outings in a row but had trouble with high pitch counts in each outing:
6 Innings, ZERO ER, 107 pitches. 5 Innings, ONE ER, 109 pitches - 4 innings in the bullpen allowed Washington win.
Those two games lowered his ERA from 5.97 to 4.54.AGon is starting to hit better.
During May: .310 .394 .466 .860 Last 7 days: .320 .433 .600 1.033
That raised his numbers from .271 .337 .400 .737 to .287 .360 .427 .787
Not up to what they expect there especially when they are losing. But his hot streaks can last a long time.

ERA up to 4.91. Volquez at 3.42.
With the way Alonzo and Grandal are playing the Reds must be very unhappy. This has been a +++ Trade.
