Little known fact: The team is actually coached by a cabal of Aztec Mesa posters. Steve Fisher just prints out the threads and passes them around to the players before each game.

He should have just said "SDSU has been nationaly ranked most of the season and Fisher has been voted the Coach of the Year for back to back years, however I know more than everyone else - the truth is that Fisher can't coach and the team isn't any good."

Gregg Doyel has never liked Fish. Even last year he gave no love .. mostly hate. He's a schmuck and just adding to the bulletin board material. I'd say "Shock the world" but we're the higher seed for a reason. ... Make em all eat crow!

The guy is a moron. 1. He says that the "Fisher" sucks at the x's and o's and then 2. insinuates that Fish is not doing the X's and O's.
So if you believe that Fish is not coaching the team, why does his x and o ability matter?
But this piece is thin on knowledge. He says the SMC Gaels have the best mascot. Of course he makes this pick because he knows a line from a 70's song. But if he had any marbles, he would have realized that Iona are also the Gaels. But more embarrassing is that he does not know the difference between Gael and Gale.
The actual lyric is
"that good ship and true was a bone to be chewed when the "Gales of November" came early."
Gale = Strong Wind
Gael = A Gaelic-speaking Celt of Scotland
so I am not so impressed with his abc's.

I've always been puzzled by the "Fish doesn't know X's and O's" myth. I think it stems from the Fab 5 days. After all, he had "all that talent and couldn't win a nat'l champioship with them". Forget the fact that he had them in the finals twice, and almost won it all when they were ALL FRESHMEN. Dude can coach. Lazy journalists will be lazy journalists - some things never change.
That doesn't change the fact we will still have our hands full in Columbus. But if the Aztecs lose the first game, or the second game, it won't be because of Fisher's coaching ability.

That's I all need to know about Fisher's ability to coach...but if you want one more, how 'bout getting a 6 seed/26-7 after losing its top 4 players. Oh and finally, it won't be an upset if you consider Vegas has NC State favored. |
